The programmes includes Irish news, local events and activities with an Irish flavour, as well as interviews and live music from visiting Irish musicians. It also includes book and movie reviews and on occasion some political views/reviews. Capital Irish has interviewed many Irish celebrities over the years the most prestigious being the former Irish President Mary McAleese. Our presenters come from all walks of life and each generation is represented! Capital Irish has been making programs for the Irish Community in Wellington, New Zealand since 2003. These programmes are also broadcast on Wellington Access Radio.

On this week’s Capital Irish, Andy shares some new Irish trad music courtesy of the Faoiseamh project, and muses on the various impacts that this new phase of the pandemic has on our lives here in NZ. We also get to hear some recordings from Richard Tait, who recorded these for the NZ Irish Sessions website. Richard will be the banjo tutor at this year’s Ceol Aneas in Nelson.
